There development that I think deserves as much coverage as possible.

Part of the Downtown Brooklyn redevelopment plan calls for the destruction of several homes of prominent abolitionists. There were important safehouses of the Underground Railroad on Duffield Street, just off the Fulton Street mall. The City wants to use the power of eminent domain to convert these historic sites into an access road for a hotel and underground parking.

As part of our efforts to raise awareness of the importance of these sites, we will present a performance of West African griot music with Kakande at 227 Duffield Street on Saturday 2/10 at 9pm. Please email contact@undergroundrailroadsafehouses.org for more info.
