"... But still, even if he's innocent of the murder, Mr. Peterson is nevertheless a world-class, class-defining sleazeball. Whose actions do, in a certain sense, show a side, a depth or rather a shallowness to human nature, that we may have not seen before. ..."
Actually, they show a man who is too nice to kick a casual sex partner to the curb in order to save himself. In her entire 'testimony' he never once made any sort of admission of guilt, no matter how desperately the prosecutors tried to make it appear that he did. As for his words, they only appear strange because we are still not used to overhearing such private babble. Prince Charles was married to Princess Diana while telling Camilla he wanted to be her tampon. Scott never sank to that. He didn't even make a sex tape with Frey!
As for the trial, to this day no one can point to any valid evidence that Scott had anything to do with the abduction and death of his wife - even the jurors cannot explain on what basis they voted for guilt. Given the preposterous hypothesis the prosecution offered, Scott's case is just another trial by hysteria.
