This whole thing is a joke. A relic like Al Vann crusades for the sake of what? Himself. We can't find someone else from Bedstuy to honor? How about naming the street that Spike Lee filmed "Do the Right Thing" on after him. At least he created a job or two and economic activity in the community. Let's face it, Al Vann has represented Bed Stuy forever in some shape or form, and it is still one of the remaining war zones in the city. Charles Barron represents war zone number 1. And we wonder why these communities go nowhere. I am sure that walking down Sonny Carson Blvd. will inspire some kid, and make him feel proud to be from Bed Stuy. Let the pols fight for insignificant issues, while the people they represent suffer and the services they receive stay subpar at best. Don't fret, whites are starting to buy in Bed Stuy, so maybe we can gentrify their asses out of office.
