Good points. Danforth is surely a good man, and the country would have fared so much better with such a wise, civil and reasonable statesman as vice president. Alas G.W. Bush, in his simplistic, superstitious, reactionary world view, hasn't the insight or understanding to appreciate this.
By this point, I think the country has pretty much given up on the Bush administration and moved on. Its historical legacy of corruption and ineptitude will put it in company with the likes of the Harding administration.
