Bombshell? If anything it seems as if there are conflicting stories that need to be straightened out. Secondly, it seems that the media in general have been overwhelmingly pro-U.S.troops. As for "established publications", although I enjoy the New Republic, I wouldn't overestimate its influence on the wider population.
