brooklyn boy (not verified) says:

This is a typical New Times strategy -- skewer the sacred cows! (The idea was assigned by the editor, no less.) If the cow needs skewering, the approach can be refreshing. But if not, then it's tiresome, or, worse, destructive. (The science is murky? Stop the presses.) New Times papers are universally tedious in this manner.

To be fair to Ortega, the Voice is better than the Voice of the last few years. But when it's good, it's about the stories, not the slant. New Times is trying too hard to move away from -- or to trump -- the Voice's lefty past. As a result, the New Times Voice is often predictable and sensational for little reason.
