John Burns has been a reporter in South Africa in the late seventies. It is there that we met, on assignment, covering the bullit ridden funeral ceremony of Robert Sobukwe, in February 1978 in Graaff Reinet, I believe.
We were dodging bullets together that day,as I remember.
Burns has always been and always will be a brave front line news reporter, be it in apartheid South Africa, communist China (from which country he was expelled as a journalist) or in Iraq.
I, a reporter for Dutch media, have font memories of our brief encounter in 1978.
