Whatever the reason for this suit, the bottom line is that this has zero chance of going to trial before the elections of 2008-- so those claiming that this is an effort to pressure a sizeable settlement are probably right. If the defendants decide they want to take their chances with what comes out in discovery in the lead up to the 08 elections, then Judith is probably not going to get much from this. She'll blow the wheels off a Giulliani presidency, but she won't gain anything tangible from it, except personal satisfaction. But financially, the only way she wins with this timing is to force a settlement. Going to trial will end in 2009 or later and by then, who is going to care about dirt having to do with Kerik and Giulliani if they're no longer of national interest?
