Its great the GSD is in a positive roll, but think of the amount of people that are going to go out and BUY one just because of this "movie dog". I think if you truly cared for the breed you would be trying to get it OUT of the limelight.
The GSD definitely doesnt need anymore popularity, Im pretty sure most of the world knows what they are and what they are capable of. It was POPULARITY that ruined the breed in the first place, surely you do not want to support the further demise of the breed.
Sure every shepherd you have owned may have been a great dog, but did it not take hours upon hours of dedicated training to get it that way? The average owner has no comprehension of drives and pack mentality, these are very important things to know when dealing with working dogs. I also am assuming you have had a bit of experience with the breed, therefore you must be experienced in training.......it gets easier every time does it not?. But the average dog owner has probably not had years of experience with working dogs, not to mention training them. This usually ends up in disaster.
And no, I do not own a GSD but I interact with them on a daily basis and they have always been a part of my life.
