Zach (not verified) says:

As far as I'm concerned, NBC's Nightly News announcer should be fired.

Announcers generally have voices that are warm, pleasant, soothing, and at the lower end of the vocal range. This announcer's voice is squeaky and anything but soothing.

How he got this cushy, announcing job I don't know? I assume he knows a VIP.

When you think about it, an announcer blabbing: "This is the Nightly News with Brian Williams" is redundant. Does the audience really need someone to tell us this information?

A nice personal touch would have Brian Williams, himself, welcoming the audience to the Nightly News. Not only that, NBC News would be saving the announcer's salary. The intro is on tape, so it's not like the announcer is there at the television studio every evening at 6:30 PM. Whatever they're paying this guy annually for the 5-second taped into, it's too much-- $100,000, $200,000 or $300,000?
