The square of Santo Domingo is named after the Church of Santo Domingo (Saint Dominick) not after the Santo Domingo family who come from Barranquilla an industrial port city in Colombia.

The Santo Domingo's love appearances and no doubt chose this church to somehow make it appear related to them. This church and square have been there four centuries before these people had a penny to their name.
