As always, Mr Sarris' views are insightful and cohesive. I start from a disadvantage that about half of the films mentioned have yet to be released where I live (Belfast).
This makes comment difficult. But one thing I would say is that, in my view, the performance of Kiera Knightly in 'Atonement' is massively under-valued. It is a performance of astonishing subtlety - just look at the moment she admits Robbie into the house after the 'wrong letter' incident - the complexity of the expressions on her face is astounding. And I certainly would see that as being a substantially better performance than that of Cate Blanchett in 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' (not yet seen 'I'm Not There').
But this is carping. Thanks for the lists and my appetite for 'Juno' is well & truly whetted!
