Rick Hudson (not verified) says:

Repetition
Poetic elements: image conjuring language, alliteration, rhyme
Implication
Narrative

Together these elements make an idea memorable. Later it is the ONLY thing remembered about an event or person. As the only thing remembered it is repeated even by those who don't believe it, recruiting its enemies in its dissemination.

These are elements of marketing an idea that need contain no truth at all. Americans, though widely subjected to marketing, are strikingly vulnerable.

There is hope in educating the target audience in the techniques so that they at least instantly arouse suspicion. Simply discrediting the ideas is reactive, helps by repeating them, and takes to long.

Joes effort at preemptive education about the expected themes and narratives is tempered by adding to the repetition, but I hope is a net gain.
