RE: Sandy Treadwell
(Sandy Treadwell was the Former Captain/Chairman of the "NY GOP Titanic" ....which is nothing more today then a bunch of ..... "Floating Deck Chairs" of the Treadwell Titanic)
NY Slims (Err, I Mean, NY Times - March 10, 2001) says of Treadwell.....
"Indeed, many in the party say privately that Mr. Treadwell is Mr. Pataki's man and that his election to party chairman signals the governor will control the party"
"By all accounts, Mr. Treadwell is less conservative than Mr. Powers. No one considers him an ideologue. He praises the governor for his support of such liberal measures as hate crimes legislation and the clinic access bill"...." "I think Treadwell's style is more akin to Pataki's than Powers would have been,'' said State Senator Roy M. Goodman, the liberal Republican Party chairman of Manhattan"
On another read, Conservative Author, Writer & Icon, George J. Marlin has 3 pieces/stories written on his blog. These stories continues to draw attention to the Sandy Treadwell failures.
In one story written by Marlin he says of Treadwell.....
An outspoken voice? Where was Treadwell’s voice when Governor Pataki trashed cherished conservative values? Treadwell was silent when Pataki:
Abandoned his opposition to Medicaid abortion funding;
Pledged to remove the pro-life plank from the Republican National Platform;
Ended the “conscience clause” for religious medical institutions thus forcing them to provide services contrary to their religious principles;
Signed into law the state gay rights bill;
Signed into law the hate crimes bill.
As for gun control, there is no record of Treadwell opposing Pataki’s March 2000 proposal, which The New York Times described as “perhaps the widest ranging gun controls in the county” and Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long called a law “against law-abiding people.”
Yes, when Pataki sold Conservatives down the river, Treadwell was silent. The Latin legal maxim is “qui tacet consentiret” – silence gives consent.
