SOUL SURVIVOR (not verified) says:
I've been in Park Slope Brooklyn for all my life and at 43 years old I can see what these new boom of young charitable hipsters are doing-- they are the vanguard of gentrification. Their charity is designed to make brooklyn better and more compatible for their life in the New Brooklyn. They aren't concerned with the ethnic minority that have lived here for generations and are slowly being shoved out of their hoods for the starbucks' and the qwaint Union HalLs. The Young Lions, are lobbying for social (ahem -political) position so they can make brooklyn their own-- and for their offspring. Montesori's waiting list is longer than a kidney bank's! I have been observing this transfer of power and the future looks bleek for those who can't afford to buy a bottle of wine everyday after work on 5th ave, or sip $5 latte's while they check their emails at Gorilla coffee. I was raised in the Brooklyn Library and Musuem-- at a time where there considerable outreach to its ethnic constituents. these hipster charity's are only concerned with making these institutions more attractive to their condominium cousins who
are moving in across the street. It remains to be seen what Pemberton will do with his Vanguarde cultural movement. He needs some hipster yuppie heavyweights to give his group credibility-- without that he will be eaten up by the lions.
