I generally oppose additional regulations but in this case the building industry brought it about themselves. They routinely ignore stop work orders, flout zoning and building regulations and generally have ignored or paid off the building department inspectors. The recent rash of accidents and deaths are just the tip of the iceberg of what has been going on. The rest of the modern world lives with these type of regulations and doesn't have the history of violating them that has occurred in NY.
