Frankly I think either one of Maine's senators would be viable, Christine Todd Whitman should have been viable in 1996; Elizabeth Dole should have been extremely viable in 2000, she had more experience than anyone then except McCain.
The Democrats have several female governors who should be viable for 2012, or even this year.
Betty Ford was first lady and congressional wife for 27 years, and she would be more qualified than Hillary.
