Oh please. Of course there is sexism in Irish politics and the dismissal of the NIWC and the significance of the women's groups shows this. But let's also get real, Hilary Clinton wasn't instrumental in anything regards the peace process, at least until she became a senator, and that's not what she is claiming. She did her duty as first lady and that's what relegated her to the sidelines where the rest of the women were. And she played her role in that very well, but it wasn't at the heart of the peace process - and, more tellingly, those groups and tangential issues she was involved with are still relegated to the sidelines, if they are active at all. Blame it on Irish sexism, the Catholic Church, whatever floats your boat, but accept the reality of it. She didn't quite make tea for the boys - but she did accept a teapot as a token of appreciation. Now that says it all, really.
