Roby (not verified) says:
I was in Tuzla in 95 and 96 doing humanitarian work. In March 96 we were sitting in Tuzla's main boulevard enjoying our coffee. That's how dangerous it was. Why Clinton had to run for her life i really dont know. And by the way, the airbase was probably the safest place in the whole Bosnia.
Attacks by Serbs on the Tuzla airbase were sporadic even during the war. The last attacks on the airport took place in the summer of 95 when Srebrenica refugees found shelter there before being relocated in neighboring municipalities.
After the fall of Srebrenica Nato attacked Serb positions, the Bosnian Serbs were forced into the negotiating table and Dayton was signed, at the end of 95. The Bosnian Serbs kept sabotaging the peace agreement but there s no way they could attack Eagle Base in March 96 ! and there was never, ever, sniper fire. She must have mistaken Tuzla with Sarajevo... A complete misrepresentation, as anybody having done work there during 96 could confirm.
I praise the Clinton administration's effort to bring an end to the war in Bosnia but Hillary's depiction of events is dishonest.
