As a lifelong reader and current subscriber to the NYTimes, I must admit that the paper has become a less compelling read than the Washington Post, and the blame for that probably falls on Keller's shoulders. His reporters certainly have the goods, but for whatever reason, his editors continually back away from the "edge" that draws a reader's attention. I think that is reflected in the awards.
