Conason, Let me tell you a story about Jim Stockdale. I was a Navy pilot and at one time served in the same squadron with, then Lt, Stockdale. VS-27 Norfolk VA 1953.

Jim attended a conference in Dallas in 1992. There were two young asshole reporters at the conference. Thomas Edsall and Barbara Saffir. They wrote the following about Jim.

The admiral, a prisoner of war in Hanoi for seven years, was caught speechless in the middle of the 1992 presidential debates with his hearing aid turned off.

With all the superb qualities of Admiral Stockdale those two assholes could only ridicule.
They could have explained the reason for the hearing aid, but that would have ruined the liberal motive of their report. They could have explained that Jim needed a hearing aid because he had been slapped on the ears so many times it broke an ear drum. One of the finest men in any Navy and these two assholes ridicule him in a national publication.

McCain’s military history does not necessarily qualify him to be president, but it does show his character, courage, strength, and loyalty which are desireable characteristics for the Commander and Chief. Does Obama’s activism, legislative record or association with William Ayres show anything comparable?

Wesley Clark had an impeccable military record, until his early relief from an appointed position. He then began to whore for one political candidate or another in exchange for a
political reward. That behavior is the antithesis of military values.
