You mentioned that Harvey Fierstein campaigned to be Mrs. Claus. It's my understanding he took quite a bruising from the gay community over that "performance". I, myself, until recently, adored Mr. Fierstein and joined his online fanbase on MySpace. My experience with Harvey was less than pleasant. I encourage you to read my blog relating to this matter entitled, "When Pseudo-Stars Bite The Fan's Hands Who Feed Them". In short... if you don't flower and shower Mr. Fierstein with gushy, feigned flattery, as so many of his "fans" unashamedly do, you are treated like a second-class citizen and "blocked" from his page. It was an eye-opening experience, to say the LEAST. And the way he, himself, gushes over A Catered Affair and his personal accomplishments in his blogs is a bit tiresome, in afterthought, as well. Gay men, in general, want icons they can look up to; not icons who look down upon them. Mr. Fierstein's behavior toward me was sadly childish and, more importantly, rude. I really hope you will take me up on my offer to read the actual blog...
