Some slights can be mended with flowers; others require cold cash. Last night was Freddy's first big fund-raiser: a $1,000 per plate affair at Cola's in Chelsea featuring Howard Dean. The event was closed to the press, but a Politicker source reports that Howard Dean came bearing gifts. He presented Freddy with a $1,000 check... from Maureen White, the DNC finance chair. Ms. White, who is married to arch-Democrat for Bloomberg Steve Rattner, had previously declined to go on the record supporting either mayoral candidate.
