Joe Bruno's Billionaire
January 2, 2006 | 6:38 a.m.
The News's Trump-for-Governor scoop follows many others in referring to Donald Trump as an unquestioned "billionaire." Not that the notion of The Donald 2006 isn't lovely. (Though "Eliot Spitzer should be so lucky," says Hotline on Call.) Just that The Times's Tim O'Brien has raised serious questions about Donald's money, estimating his net worth at $250 million, rather than the Forbes number, $2.7 billion. And so the run for Governor could, inadvertently, become evidence for or against O'Brien's case. If Trump is "only" worth a quarter billion, he can hardly lay down $100 million for a political campaign.
