Mike and Joe: More Seats?
In case you missed the 11:00 news on WNBC last night, producer Jamie McShane emails over a snippet of their story on Bloomberg's threats to back a Queens Democrat for a State Senate seat.
"In conversations, the've made it clear that there are other seats they're looking at," says the Democrat's consultant, Scott Levenson.

Bruno has nothing to lose. Makes him very dangerous to a mayor with a big agenda.
kudos to the Senate Dem's for turning up the heat. i don't know how this Bloomberg story began, but i'd like to think that they had something to do with it.
perhaps the concerns that Paterson's LG ambitions would hinder the their efforts were unfounded...

This will be soooooooo much fun to watch. I might just like Bloomy after this.
Bloomberg will not blink and Addabbo is a perfect candidate to back for State Senate...one of the most well liked people in local politics with an awesome legacy...
Avella vs. Padavan might be the next link in the chain
...followed by McMahon (Deputy Mayor Linda Gibbs' brother in law) vs Marchi.
BOOM BOOM BOOM
Bubba at 1:14 p.m. is no Bubba Clinton when it comes to being an astute political analyst. Sure, Bubba, Bruno has nothing to lose -- except the Senate majority, and all his power.
that makes him all the more dangerous...Boob Bait
this is all about paterson, schneiderman and the next gen of senate dems doing the hard work required to make their conference more credible. that brought in spitzer, and now bloomberg. this is not the beginning or the end, but surely an ominous sign for bruno.
With Scott Levenson running the effort, can the Democrats lose?
Hey anon 1:52pm - that "next gen of seante dems" wont become "majority leader" It will go to an outer borough designee of Manton, Lopez and Rivera.

Hey Beadie...I hope that Levenson remark was sarcastic...
Levenson can't win a seat against a sack of potatoes.
McMahon vs Marchi? You have got to be kidding me. McMahon did not have the cajones to run against Fossella - who he would have a much better chance of taking out.
Lets just say...
Addabbo vs. Maltese
Avella vs. Padavan
McMahon vs. Marchi
Is it just me or did someone else just hear the theme from Rocky?!?!
I can only say that if Bloomberg knocks off Albanese (or even makes a run at him) he better also knock off enough other state Senators to get control of the chamber.
More likely -- he extracts a better deal from Bruno et al and then sits out the state races.
The Marchi seat is safe Republican. And, in fact, the overwhelming majority of McMahon's pretty Democratic Council District (including, most likely, McMahon's house) is represented in the Senate by Diane Savino.
The enticing Republican Senates seats in the City are (in this order) Padavan and Maltese (with Golden a very outside shot).
What about a sack of doorknobs???
Scott Levinson loses every non-incumbent race he is in. In 2005 he made $$$ off of John Luisi for Boro President, Bill Perkins, Dan Quartz, Norman Siegel. He will be a witness in the spring in the Norman trial that involves extoring judges. Levinson is quoted in the papers telling his candidate to pay Norman's flunky after she lost because he Levinson whats to keep good relations with Norman.
fdfsdfsdfs
Gennaro, Savino, Gentile, Addabbo - four long shots ending in vowels. Does Levenson do anything but Italian candidates? Or were those potatoes? And Mark, what are you smoking? Levenson didn't do Siegel.
wasn't levenson part of mark green '93 team for public advocate? a win. and again in '97? another win.
and '98 senate run? defeat.
however not for the mayor's race.
Don't hate on the L-man. He's got the brain, the butt, and the tan.

Just to put the daunting nature of the Marchi seat in perspective:
Number of Republican Assemblymembers in Marchi seat: 2 (making up the overwhelming majority of the Senate District)
Number of Republican Assemblymembers in the balance of the City: 0 (Golden and Savino do have the balance of one of Marchi's Republican Assembly seats).
Obviously the Marchi seat is not vulnerable but Maltese and Padavan's are. We know Spano is vulnerable since he barely held on in 2004. Bruno should be glad Balboni is apparently staying put in Nassau. Truth be told, if Democrats somehow find themselves with control of the governorship and the legislature the first order of business will be a fair redistricting of the Senate -- the district lines are non-sensical since they are purely designed to perpetuate a Republican majority in a Democrat majority state.
More vulnerable seats than Marchi's outside NYC include: practically everything in Nassau and Suffolk, Spano's in Westchester, Morahan's in Rockland, and both Rochester seats. Of course, some are safe as long as the current incumbent stays.
On the other hand the Dem's hold on the Syracuse seat (an accidental vistory caused by a Republican split)is tenuous at best.
someone, with energy, is going to take out marty golden - from borough park to marine park - he's vulnerable.
mp: would that it were true!
Very little of Borough Park in the District, and he's basically bought off the Orthodox community leadership with memeber items. Hard to find an issue where they disagree with him either.
Marine Park and especially Gerritsen Beach were Golden for Golden the last time he had a race, it's an Irish ex-cop thing.
While the district is Democratic on paper, it rarely goes to Dems in a close state, city, or national race. It's very gerrymandered. Plus, the local Democratic party types are divided between those who openly support Golden and those who would never do so, but nonetheless wish him well (he brings in a lot of member item money and is happy to share the credit with the local Dems).
