So, Virigina Fields by far is the best candidate.

Yeah, basically and she didn't get indicted or owe child support to her babys-mommas.

She may not be all that great and quite aged, but she is not a sell out and most likely will come out against Columbia Expansion.

Tell that to Perkins and his developer friends.

BTW- Viverito doesn't care about gentrification, just ask the Extell Corp. and for the other two, Bill probably snuffed some people for them.

I think Clara will win but she's gonna have to work for it.

Man in the Streets (not verified) says:

Melissa is DEF not on the side of developers. Her heart is in the right place but she needs to pay attention to the needs of her constituents. After more people voted against her than for her.

Virginia had ample opportunities to fight Columbia expansion and sat on her hands. Perkins, however, at least denounced eminent domain abuse.

Both Perkins and Fields are uninspiring. Can't uptown find better leadership - or is this all you can find?

what happened to the young turks of harlem?

CVF WILL WIN TWO-ONE OVER PERKINS. TAKE IT TO THE BANK.

The question should be this: can black New York find better leadership ?

anonymous (not verified) says:

Sad that this is all Harlem can come up with. Like Stringer or not, the amount of activity coming from his office shows how much CVF was NOT doing for the last 8 years...

Either of them get this office it will be a sad day - each person will be there until they drop dead. Or until Rangel finally steps down.

Yuck.

WONDERFUL...Perkins in the State Senate. Another victory for Anti-Semites and neo Nazis.

Sure makes C. Virginia look good!

anonymous (not verified) says:

Bill Perkins is a solid progressive, worked hard at making alliances across boundaries and actually made the Government Operations Committee into something while Gifford Miller and his crony Chris Quinn were busy rewarding political hacks. Perkins deserves this chance and has the chops to win it. Fields didn't do anything that anyone can remember 3 months after she left office.

polinerd (not verified) says:

Perkins is wrong on a number of levels to run against Virginia. Basically at root 'its silly'. After the party's disaster with Mr. Ferrer, 'caused by the Bronx Democrat's lack class and fairness, political chivalry and the shocking misguidance and of faithlessness of advisors like Lyn and Mc'? Mr. Perkins should know better. I for one want to see Virginia in Albany and she is a solid fit for the Upper Manhattan constituency. As a trained and experienced legislature and county administrator, as BP, she will do much to enhance the climate and political culture for all New Yorkers.
As for Mr. Perkins now is a good time to show a measure of heart and commitment to 'the root cause' by challenging for Congress. Why try to pick on a good, honorable woman and loose when you can gloriously fight with a powerful man and maybe win a great national victory for the democratic process. I belive in his heart Mr. Rangel wants to face the voters again, win or loose.
The man is a soldier.
I and most can understand a Congressional contest. I say Run Perkins Run for Congress.
Leave Virginia alone.

"...the amount of activity coming from his office..."

Exactly what activity is that? I haven't heard a real peep from Scott Stringer since he took office. Sure, he's made noise about "reforming" the community boards, but when all is said and done we'll see what pie in the sky that really is.
