BFFs No More
Jennifer Cunningham, 1199's resident policy wonk and mover-shaker, has said that the union is prepared to file a lawsuit against Governor Pataki should he block spending increases written into the State Legislature's budget. We guess this means the long, tortured, tit-for-tat love affair between 1199 and Mr. Pataki is officially over. Call it the final glove-slap in the face.

It would be the best thing that ever happened to the Republican Party.
Cunningham's bravado makes for a good press release but she is bluffing.
All it means is that one of those pork items Pataki just vetoed was probably paying for a dozen or more not-for-profits staffing the 1199 phone banks.
This is all a criminal indictment waiting to happen.
Pataki no longer needs 1199,hence he doesn't care. It would be nice if the 1199 political folk learn from this episode and broaden their criteria for endorsements. A meager increase in pay should not be enough.
