The Saga Continues
On the contrary, the two factions keep campaigning and claiming victory.
According to a source, this weekend Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum is coming to the city, where a tent will be set up at PS 16 in Williamsburg for thousands of the Rabbi's followers to rally and show their support. Some of those same supporters just issued a statement announcing a ceremony to take place in "the coming weeks in Williamsburg" to appoint the older son as Grand Rebbe. That statement, which claims the support from Satmar congregations "around the world," seems a bit premature, at best.
Scott E. Mollen, a lawyer who represents Zalmen Teitelbaum, said "It's inexplicable how they can claim victory since it is now evident that the Grand Rebbe left a written will that expressed his desire that Rabbi Zalmen succeed the grand rabbi."
He noted that the appellate courts has just yesterday reversed an earlier decision and put the main synagogue and Grand Rebbe's home under the control of Rabbi Zalmen.
Moshe Indig, a supporter of Rabbi Aaron Teitelbaum, countered that "This is not a court issue, the court has nothing to do with succession."
"This is a corporate issue," Mr. Indig said. "We are talking about a half billion dollars in assets. The board members from Satmar community around the world want him (Rabbi Aaron) to be the successor. "There is going to be a big crowning ceremony."
In other words, don't expect concession speeches any time soon.

Scott Mollen, I don't know if he is a Lawyer, but defiantly a Liar, and one of the bigger once. The old rebbe didn't leave a will, and so didn't the last rebbe, and interesting, the will apeard after 5 years of taking heavy medication for "Dementia". And If Scott Mollen understands Monday's Appellate Court Decision as "put the main synagogue and home under control of zalmen", he should go back to Law School
The interesting things is that, at the time the fracas began, the Zalmenites, aware of Aaron's popularity, espeically among the black-bearded youngsters, spun Zalmen's appointment to head the Williamsburg congregation as a part of the Rebbe's plan to sub-divide the realm. And, in fact, the Zalmenite gray-beards made clear that Aaron, was given the options, and had chosen KJ over Williamsburg. It was the Aaronites who balked at this.
But, now, when it is apparent which way the law (and the Rebbe) finally will (or have) ended up in their designations, it is the Aaronites who are talking about splitting the realm, and the Zalmenites claiming entitlement to the whole.
It's not my schul, and these guys ain't Zionists, but it seems that, at one time or another, everyone's understood the virtues of implementation of the Kadima plan for unilateral withdrawal.
The only problems is that everyone thinks the other guys are the Palestinians.
Speaking of jewish liaisons and former threads, who is quinns?

It's bull that Aron's side somehow changed it's policy. Aron's side is very confident that the Chasidim of the late rabbi will flock to Aron's side, and Zalmen is gonna build a Satmar community with new-Satmars

prior
to the 99' saga a major thing happened (or changed) in the rebbe's
life. The Rebbe stopped making speeches and started more and more
delegating authority to his oldest son. that is when the GABOOIM/Staff
decided enough is enough!
Not being Jewish, can anyone tell me why this matters?
Bouldin: I'm surprised at you. Doesn't it matter who the new Pope is? I can tell you it matters who the Bishop of Brooklyn is, as who runs the local church impacts all Brooklynites in thousands of ways. All Brooklyn liberals who remember wish we could bring back Bishop Mugovero, perhaps the greatest Brooklyn liberal of his generation (in substantive accomplishment) and a leader who gave the church's right wing social agenda as little lip service as he could.
Well, if those jobs matter, this job matters as well. Tens of Thousands are impacted, especially in Brooklyn, and not all of them are Hasids. It might even decide an election or two.
The problem with Williamsburg and SATMAR is that it is controlled by a couple of THUGS and MAFIA BOSSES like LOUIS KESTENBAUM who are very influental : read Daily News May 11 2006 Article:

Real estate biz
boosts Yassky run

The real estate industry is pouring thousands into Councilman David Yassky's congressional campaign - including two controversial developers, the Daily News has learned.
Joshua Guttman and the Kestenbaum family are just two of the land barons who have given more than $50,000 to Yassky, according to filings.
"Subliminally or subconsciously, these folks probably get more access [to Yassky] when the phone rings," said Neal Rosenstein, a government reform coordinator for the New York Public Interest Research Group.
After Guttman's Greenpoint Terminal Market went up in flames in a suspicious fire last week, Yassky returned a $500 contribution. Guttman has denied involvement in the fire, the city's largest since 9/11.
Spokesman Evan Thies denied that developer's contributions influenced Yassky.
"There is absolutely no link between donations and David's governing," said Thies. "There are plenty of developers in Greenpoint, Williamsburg, DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights who have given him money and are upset over his stance against their developments."
Yassky helped create affordable housing in Brooklyn and was an opponent of DUMBO developer Jed Walentas' 38 Water St. project, which threatened to block views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Thies said.
Guttman and the Kestenbaums also have contributed to other politicians - including Sens. Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer, City Councilman Simcha Felder, former presidential candidate Al Gore and former vice presidential candidate Jospeh Lieberman.
Williamsburg preservationists also pointed to the Austin, Nichols & Co. warehouse at 184 Kent Ave., which the City Council voted not to give landmark status to in November. As representative of the district, Yassky was the force behind the nonlandmark vote.
The building is owned by brothers Louis and Moshe Kestenbaum - who in 1991 pleaded guilty to a scheme to sell cosmetics and groceries intended for the former Soviet Union.
Instead, the Kestenbaums and three others were convicted of illegally selling them in the U.S. for a $4 million profit.
In the last two years, Yassky has gotten a total $2,100 from Louis Kestenbaum's son, Joel, and $3,000 from two Kestenbaum business associates.
Yassky officials said he was unaware of the Kestenbaums' crimes.
"Experiences shows us that when a candidate is receiving hundreds if not thousands of contributions, it's next to impossible to know what each contributor has done years and years ago that might raise a question," said Yassky election lawyer Jerry Goldfeder. "We look at all the contribution checks, and we scrutinize them as best we can."
MAFIA BASHER so what? John Gotti ended up dying in Jail, the same will happen to these Williamsburg THUGS and MAFIA clan who think they own the world, guys like Loui Kestenbaum never lasted long they are so greedy that they make some mistake and get caught red handed, just wait a little longer....
