Al and Chuck, Together Again

Latest predictable odd couple, if that's not an oxymoron:

Chuck Schumer and Al D'Amato at a 1,000-a-plate fund-raiser at Mort Zuckerman's Fifth Avenue home.

The object is to raise money for Montana Sen. Max Baucus' 2008 re-election bid.

Which is actually what makes it curious. We know D'Amato will endorse a Democrat if the Republican's a loser. But why does he have to help raise money for Democrats in Montana? Or maybe they're just old Hill friends?

Once again, you folks are behind the eight ball. Look at Ben Smith's column yesterday. Al Damato endorsed Eliot Spitzer at a public event on Sunday.

Anon (not verified) says:

Um, 10:31, did you actually read the item? The part where it says: "We know D'Amato will endorse a Democrat if the Republican's a loser." That's about Spitzer.

The question is, why bother taking a position all the way out in Montana? The answer is: why not? Baucus is Finance Committee bigwig who lacks credible opponent.

AnonymousAl (not verified) says:

Um, 11:12, I did. That is wrong. Damato is NOT waiting to see what Republican emerges he has ALREADY endorsed Eliot.

11:12 Again (not verified) says:

Emerging from where, 1:02, the primordial ooze? Because otherwise the only candidates I see are doomed. Al has "ALREADY endorsed Eliot" because he has already correctly predicted the outcome.

Bubba (not verified) says:

Say what you want about Al D'Amato; he is still one of the smartest guys in the political realm.

Anonymous says:

This past Sunday at a fund raiser for Assemblyman Dov Hikind, Dmato spoke very nicely about Spitzer who was standing at his side.

Gatemouth (not verified) says:

We liberals always said that D'Amato was a whore with no principles. It's taken the conservatives far too long to admit we were right.

We're trying to locate Al Damato's home or email address. We grew up in the same neighborhood and would like to contact him.
