re the drum major institute's discussion, why bring in a bunch of hacks to explain something that would be better explained by people who actually do research on these issues? the discussion is obviously something other than the agended subject.

Andrea Batista Schlesinger (not verified) says:

The event is really focused on how political corruption is leading to the creation of policies that are intensifying America's middle-class squeeze, and what impact this can/will have on the 2006 Congressional elections. So this is very much a conversation that involves both policy and politics, which is why we've invited folks from a variety of perspectives: academia (I bet Dr. Elizabeth Warren would love being refered to as a hack - you should check out her book, "The Two Income Trap: Why Mothers and Fathers are Going Broke," as well as her definitive research on bankruptcy), the political operative side, the candidate/elected perspective, and David, who has just extensively researched the issue and written a book about it.

Hope you can join us for the conversation.
