The Morning Read: August 2, 2006
The Times reports a letter to the board of elections from Stephen Minarik accuses Andrew Cuomo of receiving "substantial unreported and, in certain cases, illegal in-kind contributions."
The Sun reports that a company targeted by Eliot Spitzer last year, offered a close friend $1 million for a meeting with the Attorney General.
The Albany Times Union reports that over two dozen media outlets, including itself, have filed a lawsuit against Sheldon Silver and Joe Bruno for violating "the state Freedom of Information Law by refusing to disclose which lawmakers asked for specific grants for community projects."

Pirro has her own ethical problems, but Andrew has been getting away with skirting/ignoring/breaking campaign finance regs for months and months. Sooner or later the press was bound to catch on.
The article above "omitted" the fact that Minarik has been Chairman of the New York Republican State Committee since December of 2004. Minarik's groundless accusations are simply an attempt to divert attention from Jeanne Pirro's floundering campaign. The New York State GOP is desperate to have at least one competitive statewide race in this election. Unfortunately, Jeanne Pirro's mean-spirited personality, one-issue record and inability to deviate from her "handlers" scripts makes her an ineffective candidate who is unable to resonate with potential voters.
So you expect Democrats to make an issue of Cuomo's record or fundraising?
