Not Moving On to Tasini ?

A reader forwards her thoughts on the MoveOn.org survey about whether the group which put Ned Lamont on the map should get behind Hillary Clinton's anti-war challenger, Jonathan Tasini.

First problem is, the Clinton-Tasini question was No. 4 in a mailing with the subject line, "Help Set MoveOn's Course." Second problem is that it went to a select number of New York members, not the full membership.

The survey is now closed and "The results are confidential and are only used for planning purposes."

-- Azi Paybarah Comment from Cate, reader of this site and self-described MoveOn.org member:

Clinton can stand the heat, but her online surrogate, MoveOn, hasn't quite developed the hardened outer surface that Clinton has.

After two weeks of pressure from New York members to poll them on the Democratic senate primary, MoveOn sent a survey on Thursday asking New York members who they support in the primary.

First problem is, the Clinton-Tasini question was No. 4 in a mailing with the subject line, "Help Set MoveOn's Course." Second problem is that it went to a select number of New York members, not the full membership.

Tom Mattzie's office called the survey a "generic political survey" to "measure involvement interest."

But why do something so preliminary for a primary that's less than three weeks away? My guess is that MoveOn wants some kind of member feedback to support its feeble August 10 claim in the New York Daily News that "Senator Clinton does appear to be listening to her constituents."

Moveon.org has revealed itself as an arm of the Democratic Party, nothing more and nothing less.
For those of us who are committed to ending the war in Iraq, the Jonathan Tasini campaign was a perfect way to expose the pro-war record of Hillary Clinton.
By their lack of action Moveon.org and New York 1 cable are more concerned with protecting Hillary Clinton than they are with ending the war.
