Human for Governor
In addition to endorsing Chris Owens for a Brooklyn congressional seat today, The Amsterdam News made a number of other endorsements [no link yet]. In a surprise move, they went with Tom Suozzi over Eliot Spitzer, saying:
"Both men are talented; one of them is human to the core."
Update: Amsterdam News also endorsed: Hillary Clinton for Senate Charlie King for Attorney General Charles Barron for the 10th Congressional District in Brooklyn Hiram Monserrate for the 13th Senate District in Queens Hakeem Jeffries for the 57th Assembly District in Brooklyn Sylvia Friedman for the 74th Assembly District in Manhattan. Update 2: The paper made no endorsement between state Senator Marty Connor and Ken Diamondstone in the 25th Senate District. -- Azi Paybarah

No AG? Odd...
Doh! Just added it.
Azi,
Was there an endorsement for Democratic State Committeewoman in Harlem? That is a heated proxy war with Charlie Rangel's candidate, Sylvia Tyler facing Keith Wright's candidate, Theresa Freeman.
From Amsterdam News:
"We will continue with state Committeemen, Judges, etc. in next week's edition of the Amsterdam News."
Any predictions?
Suozzi is not human; he is an evil android infiltrating us from within!
with the exception of Hakeem and Hillary, looks like they picked all losing candidates. Are they usually this bad at picking winners?
Considering the AM News still runs a column of racist rants by Brawley liar Alton Maddox. And Maddox claims Spitzer reneged on a deal he made with someone to get Maddox his law license back, this isn't much of a surprise.
The Amsterdam News also regularly runs completely homophobic op-eds, so it is a little surprising they have endorsed candidates who are very pro-gay.
AmNews- still a Harlem-centric paper. Will probably have a smidgeon of impact in Brownsville and Crown Heights. (Unfortunately, if you want to hide something from Blacks, you put it in a book or newspaper) Chris probably got more bang out of the endorsement from the local district paper, Our Time Press. Clarke got help with her base when she got the endorsement of the NY CaribNews yesterday.
In this district, the local papers carry more impact than the dailies, with the exception of the Daily News. Publications like Brooklyn Papers, Brooklyn Eagle, Courier Papers (Park Slope Courier, Flatbush Life and Caribbean Life) are going to weigh in heavily here. Funny thing to look for here is that anti-Ratner Brooklyn Papers will go with Chris, Eagle will probably go with Yassky, Courier's white papers will go with Carl (the publisher maxed out in donations to Andrews) and Courier's Caribbean Life will go to Clarke to hedge their bets.
Enquist can probably offer more insight on this.
"(Unfortunately, if you want to hide something from Blacks, you put it in a book or newspaper)"
This is one of the most idiotic, racist and inflammatory comments I've seen on this blog. It should not be allowed to remain, in my opinion...
