Cuomo Embraces King, Ducks Barrett
Surrounded by more reporters than have covered his campaign so far, King said he received phone calls from Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rep. Charlie Rangel telling him its time to support the person who is going to win.
Cuomo said King was "exactly right" on a number of issues he raised during the campaign. Both suggested -- but stopped short of explicitly requested -- that Mark Green drop out of the race.
Before leaving, Cuomo was asked three times about relationship with Andrew Farkas, which Wayne Barrett describes in his Village Voice article this week. (Short version: While he was at HUD, Cuomo sued Farkas -- a developer who was involved with some dirty schemes invoving federally funded housing projects -- before going on to become Farkas's employee and a major recipient of his campaign contributions.)
Cuomo said he that he hadn't read the article. When I asked him again about the story, Cuomo quickly walked away to say hello to some supporters. Moments, trailed by a few more reporters, Cuomo said the story of his relationship with Farkas was first "written four years ago" and is "factually incorrect."
He didn't say precisely how.

Endorsements > huge ethical issues. sad.
So Jesse Jackson no longer thinks candidates should run if they can't win?
"He didn't say precisely how."
SO HOLD HIM ACCOUNTABLE!!!!!!!!!
Vote for Sean Maloney -- now that Charlie's gone over to the dark side, Sean's the only hope.
What DOES Cuomo read?
If Cuomo "hadn't read the article," how can he says it's "factually incorrect"? Azi, did you notice whether each of these comments came out of different sides of Cuomo's mouth?
where is Spitzer on this? an Albany reformer? please. anybody with true integrity would lambast King for his all too literal sell-out. no one who truly believed it was his duty to wipe clean Albany politics would let his main law enforcement official run a Boss Tweed style AG's office.
No kidding.
Why hasn't Spitzer endorsed Green???
Under Andrew Cuomo as Attorney General, it would only be a matter of time and opportunity before political shares in that office were divided, claims were settled in men's rooms, and the public interest was diluted in drinks, winks and handshakes in restaurants.
Remember Johnny Carson's "Carnac the Magnificent"? Remember how Carnac could divine the answer to the question in the envelope without opening it? Well, if Andrew Cuomo can divine that Barrett is inaccurate without reading his article, maybe he should consider a career in show business after he loses this election.
