Spitzer, Clinton, Cuomo

spm-222.JPG

We're signing off for now. Here's what we have so far:

Eliot Spitzer got more than 80% of the vote and by 10:20, Suozzi sent word he will indeed "endorse" Spitzer.

Hillary Clinton's got more 80% of the vote in her race.

In the close race, Andrew Cuomo beat Mark Green 53-32%. John Spencer beat KT McFarland 60-40%.

In Brooklyn, David Yassky and Yvette Clarke are neck and neck, but a source reports Yassky's best districts already came in.

Next door, Ed Towns seems to have held off Charles Barron, with Roger Green playing spoiler.

Marty Connor held off Ken Diamondstone, 53-47%. Brian Kavanagh is on his way to ousting Sylvia Friedman. Noach Dear is leading incumbent Kevin Parker. Hakeem Jeffries held off Bill Batson. Ada Smith is behind challenger Shirley Huntely [updated]

John Sabini looks like he held off Hiram Monserrate in a really close race.

And pictured above is Sean Patrick Maloney, who lost, but is smiling about something at his victory party. -- Azi Paybarah

It looks like another good night for the establishment. Maybe the low turnout has something to do with this.

Also, Roger Green played his part to perfection. But look for both Towns and whoever wins in CD 11 to be seriously challenged in 2008. These are shaping up to be some pretty weak election victories in these districts.

It does not matter if Yvette Clarke Wins. Mr Huff will have a restraining order serviced to him by next week. Promised

Go Kavanagh!!!

Forgot one big loser NOACH DEAR

Anonymous says:

don't you mean Noah Dear? Why is Huff getting a restraining order and for what?

The closest race of the night

HILLARY CLINTON 589,133 83%
ELLIOT SPITZER 570,285 81%

Spitzer must be pissed! Hillary has a solid anti-war vote going against her and she's still going to get 20,000 or so more votes statewide than Elliot.

Anonymous says:

Of course the real contest will in November to see whether Elliot Spitzer can destroy John Faso worse than Hillary is going to annihilate John Spencer.

Spencer won the republican primary today with fewer votes than Suozzi had!

Kavanagh is going to be incredible in the Assembly. I bet he shakes things up.

Yay Yvette! Go Medgar Evers!

David Yassky is now left to run for Knesset, since being a black-hating, anti-Arab, pro-killing-Arab-children piece of trash evidently didn't fly for the Congress.

May this asshole immediately be kidnapped by Hezbollah, with only pieces of his now shrunken [Anthony] weiner to return.

This is the most outrageous result of the night:

New York 40th Assembly District

DIANE GORDON 3,594 57%
KENNETH EVANS 1,587 25%
WINCHESTER KEY 1,148 18%

Diane Gordon gets arrested, convicted and indicted by a grand jury for being caught on videotape soliciting a bribe of a free house from a developer, and then lying about it, and she gets OVERWHELMINGLY RENOMINATED over two perfectly qualified opponents?!

What the hell are they thinking over in the 40th? Don't they want any standards for their elected officials? The 40th is now the laughingstock of the entire legislature in albany. sheesh.

Sometimes, I am really ashame of being African-American. We have demonstrated that moral integrity is not important in politics any more. We can lied about having a degree, we can cheat other people, we will votes for someone who never can a damn about anyone but herself, just to keep a White person out of office. If I was candidates, there is a loophole of lying under sworn statements to look into and not overlooked.

Spitzer's opponent spent $8 million dollars; Hillary's opposition maybe $100,000 so Spitzer's win is a helluva lot bigger than hers.

Diane Gordon winning is a major horror for NY democracy. But that's the flaw of our system. Roger Green got re-elected after his conviction forced him to resign. But his district sent him back. Now they deserve blame for the fact that Green helped keep Ed Towns in Congress.

Highlight of the evening for those of us in the Black community was the defeat of Ada Smith who gives us all a bad name.

Come on brother (or sister), that's a little bit over the top. As someon wlese said, when the candidates are fairly closeo n most issues that the majority of voters care about (Atlantic Yards not being one of them) then these things ususally break down along these sorts of lines/ People go woth what they know and who they feel has helped them in the past. I doubt if very many folks voted for Owens/Clarke/Andrews simply to keep the white candidate from winning. If that's the case should all those Yassky voters be ashamed for supporting him because he w as white or jewish? Yassky is the one who should be ashamed at his blatant attempt to use a divided black electorate to his advantage in this way.

12:58 -- Your disgusting anti-Semitic rant is rendered even more idiotic by your attempt at humor by vulgar reference to Anthony Weiner, who endorsed Yvette Clarke and shares only an ethnic background with Yassky. You've really advanced your side of the debate on the Middle East, shmuck.

11:23, you douchebag, your disgusting display of support for two LOSERS like the anti-black, anti-Arab, pro-clusterbombing, genocide-loving Anthony Weiner and David Yassky shows why NO ONE has any sympathy for you, the two LOSERS you support, or the State of Israel (two time LOSER to Hezbollah).

You've really advanced the case for why every douchebag Yassky/Weiner supporter should be enlisted in the IDF, kidnapped, and hacked to bits and sent home in parts.
