A Little Attention, Please
"It's beginning to look like one of those years that nobody is paying attention," said the Conservative Party chairman, who hopes to raise between $150,000 and $200,000 for Spencer at a fund-raiser at the Sheraton tonight. "He has got to continue to work hard and find money, which his becoming very difficult for him."
Long said that he wished more of the county leaders who rallied behind Spencer and John Faso at the Republican convention had spent more time out campaigning against Hillary Clinton and Eliot Spitzer.
"Not every one of my leaders are working, but in the last two weeks a lot of people have gotten engaged," he said. He also blamed the press for ignoring the two Republican-Conservative candidates.
"There is a turn-off valve someplace," he said.

Long is right, I am turned off by the child molesting conservative republican party of family values.
John Spencer is a joke. How can anyone possibly take him seriously as a senate candidate? I mean, c'mon.
The irony is that Eliot Spitzer will preside over a fiscal collapse that will leave our grandchildren paying the bills.
As Senator Clinton, her irony is that she won't be ready to debate or campaign in 2008. The liberal establishment and political correctniks have coddled her.
42 percent of New Yorkers won't vote to re-elect Hillary Clinton, according to CBS and The New York Times poll last week.
At the very least, John Spencer is giving this ice princess a reality check -- and maybe its about time certain people got off their asses and realized that.
If 42 percent of NYers won't vote for Senator Clinton, then why isn't John Spencer at 42 in the polls? He must suck awful bad to be shedding vote to no one.

Does John Spencer even have a campaign? He is totally invisible in the press. He must not be doing anything.
Spencer isn't even campaigning from what I hear. He completely gave up. Even the Times blog says that today. He doesn't have an active campaign.
"Turn-off valve"?
Forget the valve. Spencer's just a turnoff, period.
Don't attack Spencer, he may try and kill you or something. The man is pretty scary.
If Hillary Clinton is so sure of herself, why is she so afraid of debating John Spencer?
The bottom line is that Hillary is not ready for prime time.
Neither John Spencer nor anyone on his U.S. Senate campaign has given up.
It has been aspects of the Republican Party establishment who gave up a long time ago, in addition to those who have been bought and paid for.
If you smug liberals are so sure of yourself, demand a debate -- a prime time network debate -- between John Spencer and Hillary Clinton.
Otherwise, face the facts that your candidate is a coward and a pathetically unprepared one at that.
Has Spencer put out a single policy idea? He hasn't because he has no campaign. He is not a real candidate and everyone knows it.
Rumor has it that no one of any substance is left in his campaign because he stopped paying people. Basically he's just panning to do the debates and that's it.
There is no Spencer campaign. It simply does not exist.
I would like to see you say that with your real name.
There is no Clinton campaign in New York State. It does not exist. She is running for U.S. President but the best her surrogates can do is hide behind a computer screen.
John Spencer has been out across New York State calling for lower federal taxes and a strong policy on national security for over a year now.
He bested five other candidates, including three well-funded Republicans to secure the nomination.
Right now, he has Hillary Clinton at 58 percent and dropping.
The real issue here is that the liberal establishment is panicking that she might actually drop below her 2000 numbers -- and basically end the political climbing of some liberals who have been feasting on corrupt crumbs since 1992.
There are still a few more pages left to turn in this U.S. Senate race.
Don't be so sure that this Congressional pretender won't self-destruct all by herself.
Glover Park might be worth a federal investigation, in itself, so a few members of the Clinton "White House in exile" better ready their parachutes.
What happened to that missing 500 grand in Spencer campaign cash? Are the feds still investigating that?
I hear it on good authority that no one is left on the Spencer campaign. There is no campaign. But I guess that is obvious.
Who is this guy Fois? does he work for Spencer?
