Baghdad -- Just Like Manhattan
ThinkProgress has exclusive video of Rep. Peter King speaking to a crowd at the Merrick Jewish Center, where he said that life in Baghdad isn't that different than it is in New York City.
"As we go through the city of Baghdad, it was like being in Manhattan. I mean, I'm talking about bumper to bumper traffic, talking about shopping centers...Again, that's not something you'd see on television, and at any given time a suicide bomber can walk into an amusement center, but the point I'm making is that the situation is more stable than you think."
So other than civilians getting blown up on a regular basis, it's fine.

Tell that to the families of the Americans who are dying there each and every day Mr. King.
What is he thinking?????
He will save us from the Long Island Taliban, inshallah !
wow, that would make a GREAT attack piece locally and nationally. talk about out of touch.
Please, Pete, hang it up here and go represent our 51st state, Iraq, in Congress.
Does anyone teach or know about reading comprehension anymore? I mean the chattering classes love this kind of stuff, as do apparently the dimwits above in the comment section, but fur'cryin' out loud, even the snippet of King's speech above puts his statement into context -- to whit: "I mean, I'm talking about bumper to bumper traffic, talking about shopping centers...." Clearly he's talking about the plentiful street activity and commerce in Baghdad, DESPITE the bombings/killings, to note that people are still carrying on with their daily lifes. Lighten up folks.
Another missed point: lots of folks got blown up in Manhattan, too.
Get to the point, you obviously believe the lies spewed from the mouth of the great satan, Peter King. Please don't preach to the rest of us, you moron.
Anyone who would say that life in Baghdad goes on despite the daily murder and mayhem is a liar and/or a clueless twit.
Get to the point, get a life and get some information for goodness sake.
