In electing Tom DiNapoli, the legislature treated Governor Spitzer the same way they treated Governor Pataki.
DiNapoli's 53rd birthday is on Saturday.
The New York Times, Post and Daily News editorial boards all denounce the legislature.A rookie Assemblyman who tried complaining about DiNapoli's election was booed.
The state GOP is in bad shape.
At least $100 per vote was spent in Tuesday's special election in Nassau.
Mike Bloomberg said the public advocate and some critics on the City Council "have no experience in doing anything".
Some city officials are eyeing their next race.
Spitzer re-appointed Judith Kaye to another two years on the bench.
Errol Louis says more needs to be done to clean up the bench.

Spitzer has absolutely no class at all. He was happy to use DiNapoli to get what he wanted (the early endorsement for Governor in Suozzi's back yard), but can't seem to see that DiNapoli is the best person for the Comptroller's job (by virtue of his encyclpedic knowledge of NYS Government and his ability to get things done and work in a non-partisan manner), even after Spiter tried to rig the outcome with the "independent" panel.
Spitzer's antics are exactly why Suozzi is not the State Comptroller right now. Two spoiled rich kids who throw tantrums when they don't get what they want, when they want it.
Spitzer does NOT deserve to get everything he wants. Its a good thing to have a fair and reasonable person like DiNapoli keeping an eye on the Governor and his appointees. Spitzer has shown in the past he is willing to bend things to the point of breaking (the law on occasion? Remember his first election with daddy's money?) to get his way. We elected a governor, not a king.
DiNapoli will be Comptroller long after Spitzer and Suozzi are gone. DiNapoli may even BE the governor one day. DINapoli has shown class and statesmanship ever since he's been an 18 year old elected school board member. Spitzer could learn a thing or two about how to be an adult from DiNapoli.
Very well said; my sentiments exactly.
Listen, it's not about DiNapoli. He may or may not be good at the job, that remains to be seen. What Spitzer was doing was picking a fight with Silver and the Assembly Dems, because he wants to make them look childish. So far he's doing a pretty good job. It's a smart political move, that may lead to Silver's downfall. If that happens, Spitzer will clearly be in charge, instead of being held over the barrel by a bunch of whiney, do-nothing, children.
Bloomberg is a subpar mayor with a nasty temper and a tin ear.
Another delusional twit.
Absolutely right that this fight wasn't about Tom DiNapoli but a stand by Spitzer on who should be controlling Albany. It's sad that, in the process, he did cast a negative pall on Tom's ability to do the job. He is an exemplary individual who is absolutely a class act and is certainly deserving of this position. He proves that you can get a lot done with a smile and some mutual respect. He has long deserved a position of high visibility in which he can play a leading role in the resusitation of NY after the Pataki years!
"Bill Clinton will be in Westchester this weekend"
Dude, doesn't he LIVE there?
Who here saw the chair-throwing fracas at the 40th Assembly candidates forum last night? Will future forums also include fist-fights?
