Rudy Opposes Abortion, Supports Second Amendment. Who Knew?
In yet another preview of Giuliani line on his for 2008 on his liberal social positions, Miller -- who played an active role in George Bush's campaigns -- made a point of saying that as mayor of New York, Giuliani "really governed as a conservative."
When asked to square her staunch pro-life stance with Giuliani's pro-choice position, Miller turned to what some Giuliani observers suggested as a practical "out" for him several months ago: the appointment of conservative judges.
"I heard from him his desire to appoint judges like Roberts and Alito. The mayor is a very strict constructionist," said Miller, who added "at the same time, he is personally opposed to abortion."
When asked about Giuliani's string advocacy of gun control back when he was mayor, Miller said, "He told me he is a very strong supporter of the second amendment."
Problem?

Someone should ask Rudy how he feels about monogamy in marriage.
Also ask him how he feels about the ethical lapses of bosses who sleep with their subordinates.
I'm sure the evangelical right wing mid-westerners are dying to know.
"Rudy would be most "ready" of all the candidates to deal with a "worst case scenario."
Well, at least if he's president, he's less likely to have a command center that's taken out in the first few minutes of the crisis.
Flip Flop, Flip Flop. Actually with Rudy it is Flip than Flop and than Flip again.
whine all you like, it isnt gonna stop Rudy from taking the prize in 08. Losers.
Rudy's positions are principled, as are Rep. Miller's.
You can be personally opposed to abortion and still believe it is not the government's place to decide whether a woman should be able to make a choice. I'll take my daughter to Church and I will teach her that abortion is wrong. I don't need the goverment or public schools to teach her these values. And I don't need to pay the government to impose a point of view on children with lousy parents.
Rudy's stand on guns is smart, principled and courageous. No one but the hollywood hypocrites wants to take guns away from hunters and collectors or any law abiding citizen who wants them for self defense. Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York f*ing City. He supports taking guns away from gangsters and criminals and making it hard for them to get them. His gun confiscation strategies were part of brilliant plan that made NYC safe again!
If Rudy believes judges shouldn't legislate and should rule based on the original intent of the constitution, Rudy totally gets it.
"Rudy Giuliani was the mayor of New York f*ing City."
Care to elaborate on the above chicken man?
2:02, I think Rudy flipped out on a regular basis when he was mayor. Especially if you worked for him.
Rudy was a self-proclaimed Lindsay/Rockefeller Republican as Mayor.
He gave conservative Republicans the back of his hand when it came to appointments, and named a small army of leftwing and gay Democrats to judicial, administrative and other patronage positions in his administration.
The amount of political ammunition that can be used to destroy him among conservatives who don't know him is staggering.
Boy is this race gonna be fun!
lets go through the numbers, shall we? 1992: 1.1m NYKers on welfare. By 1999 that # dropped by 600,000. 1992: 1,960 murders in NYC. BY the end of Rudy's term: 640. A reduction of 67%. The unemployment rate plummeted from 10.3 to 5.1 percent. The list goes on and on. and dont you losers tell me this was because of Clinton.
The welfare to work program was enacted by Clinton not Rudy, its success is very questionable in large part because mayors like Giuliani had a built in incentive not to keep good data. The unemployment rate being low nationally was the result of the huge economic expansion during the Clinton presidency, NYC was the slowest to respond to that expansion, again Rudy has nothing to with any of this.
Crime went down nationally, thanks in large part to declining crack use , high incarceration rates, Clintons program to higher 100,000 police officers around the nation. In NYC crime started to drop under Dinkins thanks to declining crack use, Safe streets, Safe cities program enacted by Vallone sr. and Dinkins, not Giuliani. Broken windows and comp stat are turning out to be proven bs.
Giuliani will never be president.
"hire"
Think I'd like to hear Rudy's support for the Second Amendment & Opposition to Abortion from Rudy's mouth not someone who thinks they know how he feels about the issues. Let's hear it frome the "Horses" mouth!!!!
I want someone that supports the Constitution, ALL of it.
Rudy isn't the one that fits that prerequisite
RUDY, RUDY, RUDY, RUDY!!!
Wait until Rudy comes to Georgia and talks about gun control and abortion...we will show him out of town. Down here, we judge politicians by how they performed in the past rather than by today's heroic rhetoric. The walk is more important and impressive than the talk.
If Rudy will stand tall for the second Amendment he will likley get my vote.
If not it will be Huckabee
Rudy was and is a 2nd Amendment hater. The 2nd Amendment applies to all, even those poor folks who continue to live in Gotham.
i expect to fight democrates over the 2nd amendment. i will not vote for a gun control republican, but if he reverses his position, and he says so himself on the record, he's got my vote.
OK, practical consideration would be the NYC council which makes or breaks legislation. Thus, Rudy could not repeal the Sullivan Act. However, as the CEO, he had a huge impact on things like welfare queens and the criminal element. We shall see how he holds up on the campaign trail. One huge question for him is his role, if any, on the litigation against the firearms industry. An equivalent case would be Home Depot and Black & Decker being sued over Nine Eleven because of the misused box cutters.
No matter what few faults, Giuliani may have, they do not compare to the wicked witch of the East. She has lied and continues to lie. She made $100,000 on insider information. She ran the White House for 8 years and claims she didn't know about 'that woman, Miss Lewinsky.' She hid the White Water files for a couple of years, and on and on. Aided and abetted in stealing furniture and whatever when they abandoned the White House. The worst part if she were to become President, she'be so terrible, that we'd be reluctant to have another woman President.
Saying and doing are two
different things altogether.
But one complements the other
if the person doing the talking isn't hypocritical.
Someones voting record and regular attendance of the gay day parade SCREAMS he has not one descent bone in his body much less conservative.
Fidel, for you to say that Dinkins did anything that had a semblance of success automatically disqualifies any of your comments from being worth more than the paper I wipe my ass with.
HA ha!
Positions on gays, guns and god have defined the Republican party for years. Now, for political considerations, they are willing to nominate a gun grabber, a gay rights advocate and someone who does even come close to fufilling the Christian Coalition's idea of an acceptable candidate as far as abortion goes. For years they have labeled abortion and gay rights supporters as evil, godless and un'mercan.
Let's see where their morals and values leads them.
I laugh at the Republicans' so-called moral superiority.
By Rudy's own words, the 2nd Amendment refers to hunting. Somebody needs to tell Rudy that the 2nd Amendment is about self-defense and defense against government tyranny -- not hunting.
