Rangel: Spitzer Cuts "Disastrous"
Charlie Rangel, who once sarcastically called Eliot Spitzer "the smartest man in the world," said that Spitzer's health care spending plans would be "disastrous," the AP reports.
Rangel attended a business breakfast last week at which Spitzer blasted the health care industry, but these are his first comments on the plan.

why charlie, why?
Charlie Rangel is not going to be steamrolled by a "kid" who is spoiled and thinks he will get his way by being a bully. He was proud of that Bruno and Silver stood up to "Spittin' Pizz" Spitzer, Rangel was overhead saying: "kick that bully till he bleeds."
This issue is smoking out everyone:
A fairish share of school aid for NYC and fewer uninsured children vs. more money for one of New York's most powerful interest group.
This isn't about cutting taxes or cutting government -- spending is rising by more than inflation, and rising for Medicaid. It is about winners and losers. The children have been losers here forever.
And note that Republican vs. Democrat, Liberal vs. Conservative doesn't matter here.
Cranky INdependant...Let me give you an 1199 massage...it's one of a kind and is very "healthy". No really grow up...The Gov's gotta get better at negotiating.
4:54. Gov can't negotiate. BPD.
If the Governor is failing in his negotiations, it is for two reasons:
1) He has failed to tie the high level of Medicaid spending for certain interests to the historic injustice of NYC's low share of state school aid, or even stress that injutice at all.
2) He started out with an increase in Medicaid spending, rather than with setting spending per recipient to the average of surrounding states, a much more drastic change. If he had done that, the health care industry might be happy with what he proposed.
I only hope that his compromise won't be more Medicaid spending in exchange for a reduction in NYC's share of education finacing, which is what Bruno and Rangel want.
Cranky, I usually agree with you but, I must say, the Governor can't be failing in his negotiations because he has not started negotiations. He's losing the food fight he started because he wrote a check he can't cash which brought Bruno and Silver together. That's unbelievable. Politics 101.
(losing the food fight he started)
So whose ads went of first? Spitzer's, or 1199/GNYHA?
If the Assembly and Senate pass budgets, let's see what's in them. There shouldn't be any negotiations until then.
"Bloodletting" vs "Arthroscopic Surgery"
That sounds like what needs to be proven to get honest results, and if done carefully enough, arthroscopic surgery will avoid causing the very painful reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD).
Additionally, empty hospital beds, like gas in a gas tank, are an essential part of our national security to be able to timely deal with a mass public health crisis or a horrific terror attack, and the cost for same ought to be paid by Wash DC.
What is clear is that waste, fraud and abuse in medicaid and medicare must be eliminated, while health care workers receive fair and just compensation while the HMO/Insurance executives compensation be capped at
