Explaining the Usefulness of the Council

Here's City Council education chair Robert Jackson at a demonstration on the City Hall steps, explaining why he thinks the Council is an effective representative of parents' concerns.

During the press conference, the mayor made a Hitchcock-ian guest appearance nearby, stopping briefly to chat with Republican Councilman James Oddo.

He didn't appear to notice the demonstration.

blomberg has totally f- up the city school system, that's his legacy, oh and I nearly forgot harrasing minority school children every morning and the racist stop and frisk policies of the NYPD, his other legacies.

Robert Jackson was an original plaintiff in the CFE case thirteen years ago. The judgments of that case have compelled the state to deliver billions more in aid. He's been fighting for out kids since before most of them were born.

He's right to say parents are going to the Council because the Mayor won't listen. But more important, they are going to the Legislature, which will call the shots when the Mayor tries to renew mayoral control.

Right On Brother! (not verified) says:

Robert Jackson is a hero for New York City schoolchildren. He filed the CFE case when NO ONE in city or state government gave a crap about how much money our city schools were receiving on a per-pupil basis. I'd have him run our schools over the 'experts' they have now anyday.

That Bloomy, he's such a card.
