Ray Kelly on Rudy 2008 and the Next Attack

Here's a snippet of an interview Police Commissioner Ray Kelly did yesterday with WNBC's Gabe Pressman, according to a transcript:

GABE PRESSMAN: "Would you say that Rudy Giuliani could be elected president on this issue, terrorism?"

KELLY: "Well, he certainly did a spectacular job as mayor on 9/11, so to the extent that that resonates with the voting public. And if we had another attack anywhere in this country, certainly would, I think, you know, move in his favor."

The full interview airs at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday.

UPDATE: The transcript of the interview is here.

Awkwardly phrased but undoubtedly true. Unless Wayne Barrett's long-shot campaign to turn Rudy's greatest strength -- his superb *response* to the 9/11 attacks -- into Rudia's Achilles heel, insofar as Barrett attacks Rudy's actions before that fateful day. A bit of Rove-like jujitsu, but not implausible. Until that happens, however, another major terrorist attack would probably play into Rudy's hands.

What level of national politics have we come accepted? Should we have another attack on our country this would be to the benefit of a candidate who has little esle to offer - this is boarderline "crazy". I wasn't aware that we let "terrorist" decide our presidents. Clearly, RG doesn't have anything to distinguish himself or his platform from his fellow republicans - except for the fact he would be able to jump back on the back of the 9/11 victims and use them for one more public relation campaign.

Nicolo Macchiavelli (not verified) says:

Apparently the terrorists won.
