Is Judy Miller a Free Woman?
July 13, 2005 | 12:23 p.m
Hold those letters and cakes with files baked in 'em! Los Angeles Times summer reporter Steven Bodzin writes in to report an irregularity in New York Times editor Bill Keller's instructions for reaching the jailed Judith Miller: According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons online directory, the inmate number supplied by Keller for Miller, 45570083, belongs to a "Judith Lynn Miller" who is some four years younger than Judith Miller of the Times--and who was released in March of 2004. The database lists two other Judy Millers (one black, one white, both at liberty), but no number for the current captive.
