"The possibility of a deal by Microsoft and AOL was first reported by The New York Post." (Microsoft Said to Be in Talks on Forming Link to AOL, by Saul Hansell, The New York Times, Sept. 16, 2005.) To spare readers the sorrow, the Times held off on saying it till the eighteenth paragraph. —Matt Haber
