Landmarks Relocation

The Landmarks Preservation Commission just announced the landmark designation of the Seaman Cottage (top picture) on Staten Island, a two-and-a-half-story Greek Revival house built in 1836-37 in Richmondtown, the "historic governmental center of Staten Island." The house was moved earlier this year from 218 Center Street to 441 Clarke Avenue, which gave The Real Estate an excellent idea on how to save two other beloved New York buildings that are in danger of being "renovated" beyond recognition.
