New York Ladies Have Some Advice for Hillary
Last night we ventured out to the opening of the triple floored Pronovias boutique in midtown that also served as a New Yorkers for Children benefit. There were many daughters of, some socialites and models. But given all the women in the room browsing the clothing racks we thought we'd ask what they thought about the most important woman of the day.
So ladies, given Tuesday's primaries, what should Hillary do now?
Domenica Cameron-Scorsese: I have to say I have the hardest time following politics without becoming tremendously emotionally invested. There is what one wishes, what one hopes will happen and then what actually happens. My suspicion is, she is going to keep going until all other options are exhausted. I watch it and I find that it is such a tremendously tactical situation. The way we treat it is who is ahead in the chess game and I think it makes it very difficult to get the scope of who’s the best candidate because there is so much news day to day and this one’s personality and this one said this and that. The truth is, what a wonderful time to be alive in American politics. No matter what happens it will be groundbreaking and fascinating.
Ivanka Trump: I think it’s amazing, Obama will be tough to beat, but I really like Hillary—I think she’s terrific. I don’t know Barack, I find him to be inspiring, but I’ve never met him. People have been telling her to drop out for months, and she has a lot of fortitude and if she thinks she can win, I don’t think she’s delusional. I think someone is telling her that she has a chance and she does have a chance.
Alexandra Richards: Intense, right? I’m not one to talk. I think I should do some things first.
Dominique Garcia (Andy Garcia's daughter) and Rainey Qualey (Andie MacDowell's daughter): No comment.

Harper's Bazaar Does Silda-Inspired Spread
Finally someone is honoring Silda Wall Spitzer's mortifying role in her husband's debacle rather than criticizing her for it. Harper's Bazaarhas done a photo shoot titled "Stand By Your Man" inspired by the Spitzer sex scandal; it will appear in the magazine's June issue. The images, conceived by photographer Peter Lindbergh, portray the narrative of an uptown couple dealing with a very public political sex scandal. They even recreate the Podium Scene in which Ms. Wall stood beside the former governor with that infamous defeated look on her face. And check out the ascots!

'Stamboul Letter: Ben Widdicombe Finds It Hard to Really Leave
Following his departure from the Daily News, former Gatecrasher columnist Ben Widdicombe took off for Istanbul for a much needed gossip-free vacay. But his job followed him!
"Having run away to Istanbul to try and start enjoying life it's funny how NYC comes with you," he writes to The Daily Transom. And:
Jean-Georges Vongerichten is here to launch a Spice Market—direct from the Meatpacking District—at the new Istanbul W Hotel, which opens Wednesday. Mandy Moore is also here at the hotel for the opening, as is W president Ross Klein. Of course Istanbul is famous for its own Spice Bazaar, although at a pre-opening Tuesday J-G told me the inspiration was his time in south-east Asia. The main difference is that everyone smokes in restaurants here, including at the W Spice Market. The other difference is that with the weak dollar, the Istanbul Spice Market will be a lot more expensive. So waiting outside W. 13th St and breathing in cab fumes looks like it could be a good deal after all ...

The Police Will Play Their Last and Final Show in New York
Appearing at a conference with Mayor Bloomberg this morning, The Police announced that their final show—no, really this time—will take place in New York this summer.
"We kicked off our very first American tour at CBGB's in 1978 and this summer, 30 years later, our journey will come full circle as we play our final show here in New York City," the band said in a statement, although it is not entirely full circle since CBGB's is now a John Varvatos store.
A date and venue have not been set, but it will take place sometime after their London farewell on June 29th. The concert will be benefit arts programming for New York's public television stations.

Susan Sarandon is Disappointed in Hillary, the Press
When we ran into Susan Sarandon over the weekend at the TFF premiere of Speed Racer, we wondered if the actress still stood by her endorsement of Barack Obama given all the talk of the senator's dropping numbers.
And she does! Here's what the actress had to say about the current state of the democratic candidacy:
"Yes, I'm voting for Obama. I think that the press has been encouraging as many distracting issues as possible, things that aren't even issues that go on and on and on. It's just getting to a point where people are exhausted of hearing these things going back and forth. I don't think they're asking the right questions and I'm disappointed in Hillary Clinton."
Tribeca Film Festival Ends With Speed Racer
The Tribeca Film Festival went as it had come: with another glitzy premiere.
Merely two weeks after the festival encroached on our city with the much-hyped premiere of Baby Mama, the Wachowski brothers’ Speed Racer closed the festivities to an equally if not more star-treaded red carpet and winding line of rubbernecking ticket holders.
The film’s principal cast of Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman turned out on Saturday to introduce the remake of the 1960's Japanese anime cartoon.
“Most of it was done on green screen, it was just like doing a play when I was a kid,” Mr. Goodman told the Observer. “We did plays in church basements and since we didn’t have any money for anything, we’d imagine everything. I’d imagine myself naked!”
“You just kind of have to keep it interesting for yourself all the time,” said Speed himself, Mr. Hirsch. “You have to keep your imagination going and pretend things are there when they’re not.”
The 23-year-old Mr. Hirsch is perhaps too young to remember the 1960's cartoon, but the other actors were fully aware of its legacy. “I loved Speed Racer when I was a kid and I like the Wachowski brothers, so I thought the two would be dynamite together,” said Mr. Goodman. And Vincent D'Onofrio, who came out to see the film with his son, said, "I watched the cartoon all the time and I have no idea what to expect."
Peter Fernandez, the original voice of Speed Racer, arrived wearing a Speed Racer fleece vest. “The Wachowski brothers told me that they would go home every day after school and watch the show,” he said. “I’ve been hearing that it’s getting made for like 15 years, so I’m glad it finally got made.”
A certain Ausstralian actor with the amazing name of Kick Gurry, who plays the mechanic in the film, said his role was a stretch.
“I break a lot of cars, but I’ve never been able to fix them," he said. "It’s weird, I’ll get into a car and four months later, it just doesn’t work anymore.”
It turned out that the premiere was his first time visiting New York.
“I think New York and London could almost be the capitals of the world,” he said. “It just doesn’t even feel American, it feels bigger than that. It seems like it would be hard to get lonely in this town.” Kick, you have no idea!
Then just as the stars were being hurried into the screening by their publicists, festival king Robert DeNiro walked with his wife on his arm along the narrow defile of screaming photographers and fans, flashing the crowd that crooked side-smirk.
And just like that, Tribeca came to an end.
