Cindy Sherman Wants Nothing To Do with Guest of Cindy Sherman

On Sunday, Guest of Cindy Sherman will premiere at Tribeca Film Festival. And if you're anything like us and easily excited by the prospect of seeing a film by or about the queen of role-play herself—we already RSVP'd to the after-party hoping to clink glasses with the artist—you would be massively fooled! read more »

Fabiola On China: 'Feel the Oppression!'

Fabiola Beracasa just returned from a trip to Beijing, where the socialite was a special guest at a Karl Lagerfeld for that Fendi fashion show atop the Great Wall.

Last night she was wearing suede boots, short pantaloons and a corseted top—all black and all Fendi—to a ball to benefit RXArt, a charity that puts art in hospitals, that was held on the third floor of a brick building on the corner of West 15th St. and Tenth Ave..

“You felt the oppression there," she told The Daily Transom. "I had a video camera and, you know, I was told by several of the media people from Fendi to be careful, that I may be questioned about it, and just like, the way the city is—these giant roads, these giant buildings—you feel the oppression!” read more »

On the Move: Julia Roberts, Cindy Sherman, and MSG

After putting her Fifth Avenue penthouse on the market over a year ago, Julia Roberts is finally closer to selling, according to the New York Post. Also, whatever happened to Lenny Kravitz buying the Duke Semans mansion? Could the ice-cream man have been wrong?

Hank Azaria dropped $4.75 million on Cindy Sherman’s Soho loft, according to the New York Times. Mr. Azaria will now bask in the downtown co-op’s “sensual elegance,” which The Real Estate last visited in July.

In the New York Times. Charles Bagli looks at the the possible move of Madison Square Garden to a location a few blocks. If built, the future home of the Knicks and Rangers would follow a familiar trend in recently-built arenas--additional luxury boxes! So the West Side Stadium gets struck down and a new MSG could rise up. It looks like those feisty Dolans knew what they were doing all along.

In New York magazine, S. Jhoanna Robledo looks at changes in the co-op approval process, like increased transparency. Also, Barnes and Noble exec Steve Riggio bought a $5.75 million Hamptons home, "according to sources." One of those sources might have been The Observer, which already reported the deal in mid July.

Also, could mega-developer Gary Barnett and his friends at the Carlyle Group already flip part of the land they bought last June from Donald Trump? According to Crain's, at least two bidders are interested in a $1 billion swath.

Untitled Real Estate Listing No. 1

Photographer Cindy Sherman's three-bedroom co-op has just gone to contract. The 4,100-square-foot loft is listed for $4.75 million with Jim Brawders of the Corcoran Group.

Any not-so-starving artists care to jump in with a better offer? The Soho spread is "pin-drop quiet and exudes a sensual elegance." Also, there is a 1,000-square-foot studio space, a library, and craftsman-style storage.

More pictures:

Leaving all that "sensual elegance" behind, Ms. Sherman recently purchased an approximately 5,000-square-foot condo near the Hudson River, according to the New York Times.
