Marc Jacobs Looks to Richard Prince for New Louis Vuitton Design Concept

In this Style.com clip, Mr. Jacobs, 44, who became creative director of the French fashion label in 1997, explains the aesthetic behind Louis Vuitton’s Spring-Summer 2008 campaign.

According to Mr. Jacobs, the veritable king of cool around these and most other parts, it was his collaboration with artist Richard Prince that really formed the basis for the entire collection. “What about this idea of Louis Vuitton after dark?” Mr. Prince apparently inquired of the clothing macher, whose mental light bulb was then flipped. read more »

Kate Moss Struts Stuff in DKNY for Mert, Marcus

At last week’s 7th on Sale event at the Armory on Lexington, designer Donna Karan and über-model Kate Moss were seen in the midst of a long and intimate conversation. According to WWD, the two had a lot to catch up on. Ms. Moss was recently photographed for DKNY’s spring collection. Leaving her many DKNY runway stints in the past, this year marks the naughty cover girl’s first ad campaign wearing Ms. Karan’s wares. read more »

David Beckham Slings Skivvies, Shoots for England

If David Beckham putting his junk in your trunks can't sell them, then nothing can. Or at least that’s what Giorgio Armani is likely hoping by asking the soccer stud, 32, to be the global face (and bod) of the designer’s new underwear collection. Mr. Beckham shot part of the ad campaign last week in Los Angeles with glammed-out fashion-photog duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

In related news, it was reported over the weekend that the LA Galaxy player is, according to England’s head coach, Steve McClaren, hoping to win over 100 international games, or caps, for his home team, effectively proving his critics wrong. Mr. Beckham is currently three caps short of his goal. On Friday, Mr. Posh will partake in England’s friendly with Austria, following that game up with the Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia five days later.
