NBC has applied more Lipstick Jungle, ordering six more episode scripts, according to Variety. The show's ratings are catching those coveted 18-34 slot among women, apparently. Maybe it's hitting a note among those women that Cashmere Mafia was too corny to reach (the show was recently axed from ABC's line-up). In Sara Vilkomerson's Observer article on Lipstick Jungle, star Brooke Shields discussed how the show tackles real women's issues. “I like that it’s not only about the happily ever after,” Ms. Shields told the Observer. “What I love about these women is that the goal is not finding the man and having that be the only type of happiness. We spend so much of our younger years thinking that’s what you have to get: you have to get the relationship, you have to get the family. … Now when you’re actually in it, when you get what you wished for, how do you spend your days in it?”

A cluster of British fashion students huddled before the 3 p.m. Reem Acra show at the Bryant Park Promenade on Thursday, Feb. 7, holding fashion trade magazines and strategizing about how to sneak inside. They fanned out, walking with purpose.

"It's a chance to see designers," one told the Daily Transom, before seeing a group with latch-on potential walking by, apologizing and walking after them.

Hamming it up inside for the pre-show flashbulb onslaught were the actresses Sophia Bush and Aisha Tyler, the latter in a cocktail dress, and news anchor Rita Cosby.  read more »

BRYANT PARK, FRONT STEPS, 8:00 A.M.—A few minutes before some chilly spittle started to fall, IMG Fashion senior VP Fern Mallis, Mercedes-Benz VP of marketing Stephen Cannon, writer Candace Bushnell, and Lipstick Jungle co-stars Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price huddled together and cut a red ribbon, signifying the official beginning of fashion week.

Draped in a blood-red cashmere cape, a beaming Ms. Mallis, standing tall before the main tent and its questionable Caesarian theme, appeared before the crowd of weary journalists and giraffing onlookers like a mighty torch, sent down from the fashion gods on high. Last Thursday, on a cold and blustery January afternoon, the cast and crew of Lipstick Jungle, the new NBC series premiering Feb. 7, scuttled about the Ukrainian Institute of America on 79th Street and Fifth Avenue.

Bright lights illuminated the high ceilings, ornate moldings and chandeliers within the 1898 mansion, which was standing in as a billionaire bachelor’s New York City apartment. Banks of additional lights outside the building created artificial sunlight streaming through the windows. The grand staircase was covered in plastic wrap.  read more »
