Leven Rambin on Fame and Fashion Week: "It's Like Christmas!"

At Rebecca Taylor's fashion show today, starlets including a strangely punk-rock looking Mena Suvari were ushered from backstage to the front row by publicists, displacing less-important attendees to higher rows before being engulfed by a wall of flashbulbs. Yawn!

"The rigmarole is a lot, which is why I'm only going to Rebecca's show," said actress Rashida Jones of The Office, who proclaimed herself a huge fan of the designer. "I can't do the whole thing anymore. I'm not a fashion editor, you know what I mean? It takes a lot for me to go to one presentation or event-type thing. It begins to not be fun if it's one after the other after the other." read more »

At Marchesa, Tinsley Mortimer and Harvey Weinstein Don't Feel Like Talking

At Marchesa's Wednesday, Sept. 10 presentation at the Chelsea Museum, models stood atop several foot tall white pedestals in voluminous evening gowns that flowed, twisted and turned about their petite bodies as the guests closely examined them like sculptures.

Georgina Chapman, the designer behind Marchesa along with Keren Craig, was fluttering about saying hello to her guests as they were being served mini champagne bottles with insertable flute nozzles that allowed them to neatly drink straight out of the bottle.

Ann Dexter-Jones stopped by. As did Olivia Palermo, Barbara Bush and Tinsley Mortimer, who was, strangely, acting out of character. When the Daily Transom approached Ms. Mortimer, she was not in the mood to catch up. read more »

Leven Rambin to Record Fergie-esque Album for Izzy Gold

Izzy Gold, who is a Renaissance man by the definitions of contemporary young Manhattan society (T-shirt designer, D.J., and dear friend to Ally Hilfiger) has added another feather to his cap: Izzy Gold Records.

The fledgling record label is working with three tentpole artists who will be familiar to the types of people who are familiar with the rest of Mr. Gold's social oeuvre.

One is the 17-year-old protosocialite and All My Children actress, Leven Rambin. The second is party-chronicler Patrick McMullan’s son, Liam McMullan. The third is Mr. Gold himself. read more »

At Izzy Gold Party Uptown, Annabel Vartanian Praises Pals

The Parker, a small boutique on Madison Ave. near 78th Street, was overflowing last night with an eclectic mix of partygoers who had come to celebrate downtown designer-DJ Izzy Gold’s new, limited-edition “Kiss Kiss” T-shirt. The design of the soft, gray item was inspired by Patrick McMullan’s 1996 book of the same name—a weighty chunk of pages, it features the party photog’s favorite kissing pics taken over his 25-year career. (Later on, after the party moved to the meatpacking district nightclub Kiss & Fly, photos from the book were blasted onto a large projection screen dangling over the empty dance floor.) Mr. McMullan, a co-host with Mr. Gold, 26, and Ally Hilfiger, 22, was schmoozing and signing copies from behind a table in one corner of the store. read more »
